More Stuff

Hello, friends!
Everything is busy as usual.
Isn't that just the way it is?!
I started this post almost 2 weeks ago
but haven't had the time...or energy to finish it.
A lot has taken place over the past 2 weeks, so hold on for the deets.
Just act interested.
* Ryan and I had an absolute blast at Winstar a couple of weekends ago.
The Zac Brown Band was awesome.
Love this man!
Seriously.
A man that makes you laugh is a keeper.

* This whole new Blogger format is completely throwing me off.
Am I the only one?
I don't like change.

* My hubby is getting in shape.
Let me digress.
A few months ago he was recruited by a company to
develop and run their small business services,
and Ryan was thrilled as there is no travel involved (yay!),
it's back in the technology industry,
the possibilities for where this position will take him are endless,
and the company itself is incredible.
Win. Win. Win. And Win.
I am so proud of him.
The company headquarters is centered around being "green" and healthy.
Much of the building is powered by solar panels,
when food is brought in, you can expect to see healthy choices,
and the coolest part is the full gym located in the center of the building.
The owner hired a personal trainer to come in every day
during lunch for the employees.
Ryan is working out 5 days a week now.
He's down to like 6% body fat.
Really?
Totally unfair.
He's one handsome man.

* Lots going on here in the big "P".
Five students at the high school, 4 of which are out of district transfers, were arrested
last Monday for some pretty serious allegations.
I remember something extremely similar taking
place between students at the high school
I taught at in another district,
but because a professional athlete's son was involved,
it made national news.
Nice.
It has definitely opened the door to some intense conversations with our oldest.
High school is very different than it was when Ryan and I were young.
Teenagers are over exposed to so much with the Internet and the media.
It's scary.

* Speaking of high school,
my 20 year reunion is next month.
20 years.
All that means is I'm getting old.

* We took the boys to a crawfish boil
in the neighborhood over Mother's day weekend.
They had never eaten crawfish before
but caught on very quickly!

Preston learned that it takes lots of concentration.
 LOTS.
The next day was Mother's day, so we spent the day with my family.
Ryan and my brother joined the cousins for basketball.
Carter spent most of his time pushing my niece on the swing.
The boys love her!
 Sweet Carter
Our family...minus Trysten....we missed you, buddy!

* We are building a HUGE playground here in Prosper called
Windmill Playground,
and I say "we" because over 1,000 people have volunteered to help build it.
Last week was the first week of construction,
and all the PISD art teachers spent one day painting different
decorative pieces for the playground.

I was asked to make a sign for an area of the park
dedicated to a little girl who died of cancer.
Her name was Piper.
It was truly honored because even though I didn't know the little girl,
I am a mother, and I couldn't imagine what it must be like to lose your child.
I can't wait to see it when the playground is complete.
You like?

* This past weekend,
my boys were at their dad's, but Trysten was with us.
He still is with us,
and it has been so nice to have more time with him, to just sit and talk with him.
It was wonderful to see Ryan and Trysten spend some good father-son time
together while my boys were away.
Trysten went to work with Ryan on Friday and even worked out with him.
Everyone at Ryan's office loved T (of course) and called him Ryan's mini-me.
Insert huge smile on Ryan's face.
From there, they went to the movies, Dave N Busters
and finally I joined them for the Roughriders game.

On Saturday,
Ryan and Trysten played golf with Carol.
Trysten is such a natural.
We really hope he keeps it up.
The Soladays!
Speaking of golf,
only 12 more days until:
We miss you, Ed...

* This has been a great week.
Lots of family time.
Summer just on the horizon.
Our summer officially starts Friday at the Soladay house!
Cannot wait!
The kids can't either.
They've been a little wild lately.
For example:

* I leave you with one more picture.
I bought the boys some of those fake moustaches,
and this was the result:
Awesome.

Have a great rest of the week, friends!!

Stuff

Hello, friends!
Here's what's going on lately:

* Trysten and Carter made movies all.weekend.long.
I found this one on my phone before I made them switch to T's iPod.
{I do realize this might not be as entertaining to you as it is to me,
so feel free to skip viewing it.}

I need to figure out how to get the movies off his iPod.
A couple of them really are funny.
Trysten is a character.
I love those boys.
* I spent a lot of time over the weekend working on things for my art classroom for next year.
I made some posters for different artist studies.
Five down.
Twenty to go.
That's definitely a summer project.
And some art work for the art room
I am seriously excited about my new venture and
can't wait to show y'all my art room when construction is complete!

* Ryan and I are headed to Winstar this weekend
for:
So ready for a weekend getaway.
Ryan bought 2 extra seats to sell,
so if you know anyone who wants to go on Saturday night,
he's selling them for $200 a piece, row A10 center stage.

* It's teacher appreciation week which means nonstop food.
Well, actually today we had food and a 15 minute chair
massage paid for by our PTO.
They are they best.
They give their time endlessly.
Tomorrow we're having a baked potato bar with all the trimmings.
Yum.
Bad timing since I have to wear a bathing suit for the first time this weekend.
Today the kids wrote their teachers notes of appreciation,
and I really wasn't expecting any since I'm just the long term sub for a third grade class while their teacher is out on maternity leave..
I was surprised and thrilled when the kids put them on my desk this morning.
I have the best job ever.

* I cannot believe we have only 17 days of school left.
I can smell the sunscreen already.
It's the best smell ever.
It means freedom.
It means no alarm in the morning.
It means staying up late, spontaneous family outings and weekend getaways with my hubby.
It means days by the pool and nights on the patio.
Love it.

Here's to 17 more school days 'til summer!
Have a great rest of your week!
