A Space...

I have always wanted to have my own creative space...A space where I could have my sewing machine, my craft supplies, a computer and printer all in one room. Right now, I am in the study on a teeny tiny table Ryan brought home from his office, my sewing machine is set up on the table in the kitchen, and my supplies are in various locations around the house so as not to completely take over the study. It seems this is all about to change...Carter is now moving into Preston and Trysten's room, thus freeing up an entire room in our house...my own room!

I must interject before you say, "Three kids in 1 room!?". One of the reasons we chose our home was because of the extra-large secondary bedroom upstairs which we thought would be perfect for Preston and Trysten sharing a room. When the builder built our house, he decided to extend the room and extra 5 feet, so it is literally bigger than our bedroom! As of right now, the boys have a bunk bed, dresser, 2 small desks, and a couch with plenty of extra room left over. Carter makes his way into their room to sleep much of the time as it is, so Ryan had the idea of moving him in the other room and turning his old room into my creative space. When we asked Preston, Trysten and Carter how they felt about it, they were thrilled with the idea of having a "sleepover" every night...greatness...

This is Preston and Trysten's room as of now...The plan is to replace this bunk bed with the double/twin bunk bed Ed and Carol are giving us, move the dresser on the opposite wall, take these beds apart, move the bottom bunk where the dresser is now for Carter, leave the sofa where it is, and there will still be tons of extra room.

This is the dresser we'll move...Look how much space these boys have!

The Jack-and-Jill bathroom in between the boys' rooms...
Carter's room...my future space...

By the way...if you see anything in this pic you want...minus the rug and bookshelf...make me an offer, and it's yours!!!

To make it even better, my mother is going to let me borrow her serger, embroidery machine, work table...so excited...Ahhh...It's the little things in life...

  1. You so need your own space! I love being able to leave projects and come back later instead of moving everything around when it is dinner time. Decorating it will be so fun!

  4. I can't wait to see your new "craft room" all decorated. I have a huge laundry/craft room but I seem to have outgrown it plus it has no windows and its depressing. I think I am about to move my whole setup into our study that is big, light, and bright. I need ideas for fab craft rooms. I know you have ideas up your sleeve!

  5. Considering T is only there 10 days a month, sounds like it will be one big party for the 3 of them! They will be fine for the time being... it will be time to move again before you know it.

  8. I look forward to a space of my own too. Just because you get your kids raise and out of college doesn't mean that they are out of the house and you will finally have that space that you have dreamed of...

  9. You lucky girl!! I would love a craft room as well.

Did you say the bunk beds were for sale? You probably don't live in AZ but if you did I seriously may be interested in those.

Good luck with the YOUR new room.

  10. That is great! I'm so jealous, I would love to have a dedicated room for all my crafting supplies. I'm sure the boys will be just fine sharing a room and you will get a room to yourself, yay!

  11. Oh no. I thought this "creative" business you have going on was just a phase. Now it's becoming permanent and I don't like it one bit. I hope you feel bad that my self esteem will go to shiz every time I visit your CREATIVE SPACE. *sigh*
