Thank You, Michelle & Amanda!

I received this award from 2 of my precious teacher friends! Thank you, Michelle and Amanda! They are both such sweet friends, incredible mothers, amazing teachers and are leaving me next school year to stay home with their baby girls! I am so happy for you both!

I am supposed to list 7 unknown facts about myself, so here it goes!

1. I would rather read a book over watch a movie any day! I like watching movies, but nothing can compare to the "movie" you create in your head while you're reading.

2. I have a major fear of falling down stairs...especially when my boys were little and I would carry them all the time.  I actually did fall on icy steps outside a local restaurant while carrying Carter at only 7 weeks old. It was very scary, and I ended up in the ER because I used my own body to break the fall so Carter wouldn't be hurt. The restaurant paid the $3,000 medical bill and attorney fees.

3. I took dance for 8 years when I was little and danced in the role of Clara for the city ballet company production of The Nutcracker for 2 years. Such great memories...except for the severely flat chested, anorexic principal ballerinas that creeped me out. Oh, and the tights the male dancers wore made me personally swear to myself that I would never do anything with a boy that would force me to go anywhere near whatever was lurking under that big bulge...if you catch my drift.

4. I am turning into my mother. I find myself doing things she "did" to my siblings and I when we were little, such as not answering my boys until the say, "Can so and so and I" instead of "Can me and so and so", answering their questions like "How do I spell _____?" with "Let's sound it together," and "Will you do this for me?" with "How about I teach you how to do it, so that you can do it by yourself next time?" Drives my kids crazy, but I feel that teaching them how to do things on their own is teaching independence and confidence versus dependence and personal apprehension.

5. When I was a young adult, I asked my grandmother, my mother's mother, what my mom was like when she was little.  Her response was, "I used to say, Lynette, why don't you go to the football game for your school or go somewhere with your friends, and she would say, "But I have a Spanish test on Monday that I need to study for."  My mother was also the 3rd person in the history of the university she attended to graduate with all A's from her freshman through senior year! Awesome! I must have scared my poor parents to death when I was a teenager because of the things I did. I wasn't horrible...right Mama and Daddy =)...but they went through drastic measures to teach me sound morals and integrity. I can appreciate all of it now and understand why they did what they did. They are incredible parents.

6. I love fresh guacamole and salsa! I could eat it every single day! The best place ever to eat the combo is in Mexico with lime juice squeezed all over the top! Yum!

7. I am more content, happy, and in my element than ever in my life. I am in a place where I pray daily my children will someday be themselves.

That's it! That's me in a nutshell!

  1. You're so sweet! I have the same fear with stairs, especially while I'm carrying Rylee!
