Best Weekend Ever!

This one definitely goes down in the book of
"Best Weekends Ever".
So much fun with my man.
Not the man seen in the big hat below.
That's Big Tex.
The icon of the State Fair of Texas.
"Howdy folks. Welcome to the State Fair of Texas."
I wonder how many times I've heard those words
come out of his mouth in my 37 years.
We went and visited him on Friday.
Blast.
Ryan and I haven't been to the fair in
4 years which was when we took Trysten together.
It was the first time we took him anywhere together.
Special memories.
Remember how I said we were riding the DART Rail to Fair Park?
Well, we did.
Annnnnnnnnnd....Ryan saved a woman's life while in transit.
Fo real.
A woman in her mid to late 70s fainted/passed out while on the train.
People started freaking out trying to help her regain consciousness,
but my calm, cool and collected hubby
picked her up "fireman style",
as Luke kept referring to it the rest of the day,
and carried her off the train where she immediately
became responsive after she was able to breathe in some fresh air.
Craaaaaazy.
Back to the story.
Here's Big Tex:
 After partaking in a famous Fletcher's corn dog...honestly I wasn't that impressed...
Ryan and I decided to ride this:
Fun.
What wasn't fun was a ride called "Hard Rock" which Luke wanted to ride.
This is what the back of my right thigh looks like 2 days post adventure:
 Ouch.
Won't be riding that one again.
Ever.
You see a little bit of everything at the fair.
I'm still trying to figure this one out:
We discovered a wine tasting area at the fair this time.
Just so happens the winery where
we are members had a booth there.
Score.
It was a great time.
Saturday was college football at its finest.
We head out to the Cowboys Stadium for the
Southwest Classic:
Arkansas Razorbacks vs. Texas A&M Aggies!
 B.L.A.S.T.
Seriously the best time ever.
We met up with some dear friends
for a little tailgating fun before the game.
This is my sweet friend, Sharon.
We met when our boys, who are now 14, were in kindergarten together.
Love her.
About 15 minutes before kickoff we made the trek
over to Jerry's World...I mean Cowboys Stadium.
The place is huge, friends.
Ridiculously huge.
 Pig Sooie!
Love this man.
Our seats were better than expected...
except we were KNEE DEEP in Aggie territory.
You have to see this screen during a game to appreciate
how massive it is.
I wish I would have taken a pic of the final score 24-17
HOGS!
What an incredible day!
Mama couldn't leave without picking up a new T-shirt:
BEST weekend ever.
Hope yours was
just as great, friends!!

I grew up in DFW and just recently moved to South Central Texas with my husband (he just got a job as a music/youth minister down here) and I am SO missing the Fair!!! People down here have never even heard of it! Luckily we are visiting my parents this weekend, and we will get to go on Friday. Thank GOODNESS! I need my corn dog and tater twisters!

Cute pic of you and Sharon.

We had corny dogs today at the fair. And Texas tornado tators. And a funnel cake. But all shared with the fam! Love the fair. Lots of fun.

Sounds like a great weekend. :)

Um - let's get this straight - it's a CORN-Y dog, not a corn dog. Thanks.

And Big Tex has always kind of freaked me out. He's a little scary, no??

Glad y'all had a good weekend! And glad the Hogs won!
