The next part of our trip takes place in New York City! What an amazing time....
It began with an early morning train ride to Penn Station!
You should have seen the boys faces when we made it up to the street level, and this is what we saw! It's impossible to describe the busyness/craziness that takes place in NYC on a daily basis.
Carter's short legs had a hard time keeping up with the chaos!
He managed to find entertainment in the strangest places....like the touch screen monitors that are in all the cabs now.
We made it to the hotel to drop off our bags so that we could take in all that is New York!
We're finally here!!!
After lunch at Jerry's....where they serve pickles, cabbage and beets to snack on before your food arrives...that's when you KNOW you're in NY...we jumped into 2 cabs and went to our first stop, The Empire State Building!

I must pause here and give MAJOR props to Carol for her INGENIOUS purchase of the EXPRESS passes to go up to the top! Without these little jewels, we would have easily waited 3+ HOURS in line, but with the EXPRESS passes, you BYPASS ALL OF THE LINES!!! People were looking at us with daggers in their eyes, and one old lady even snapped at Carol when we went by her. Really, people? Buy the EXPRESS pass and shut it! Now...getting back on track...

Did anyone notice Austin was missing out of the pictures at FAO Schwarz? He informed us he's "not really into toys anymore" so Carol took him over to Nike Town where they rubbed elbows with Robin Givens who happened to be shopping with her family and gave Austin her opinion on the shoes he was buying. He thought that was pretty cool!
After toy and shoe shopping, it was time to head back to the hotel for dinner, so we decided....or should I say we were coerced by 2 very pushy New Yorkers....to ride in the bicycle carriage/taxis 12 blocks to our hotel in Times Square. We had NO idea what we were getting into....We're talking bumper to bumper traffic, people EVERYWHERE, and our driver proceeds to weave in and out of lanes BARELY missing poeple and vehicles of all kinds. It was SCARY and hilarious at the same time, and here is a picture of our driver before he gave us the cost with all the hidden fees he purposely left off when convincing us to get in...

LOVE me some FAO! T still has his "maxie" pug look-a-like stuffed animal that Carol bought for him when we visited them on our first trip to NYC.
Ha, those bike deals are crazy. I can't even imagine that in NYC; did it in Austin years ago and that in itself was wacky!

I can't believe Carol Soladay was/is in New York City and didn't contact any of her old friends from McQuade. By the way, she should know that McQuade is closing. We miss her and don't understand why she has just disappeared into another world.

Just reading about your New York City family vacation now! It sounds like it was a total blast! The view from the Empire State Building is beautiful. I hope to visit someday!
