Weekend Recap...

Ryan and I had a great weekend alone...It was quiet, low key, quiet, peaceful, relaxing...did I mention quiet?  Since Ryan and I have both been recovering from a mix of upper respiratoratory mess, we decided to take it easy.  We did take the dogs over to my inlaws house to let them get some much needed exercise while we sat on the tailgate of my SUV, listened to music, and watched the sunset.  It was beautiful...

On an exciting note, we did get our flight itenerary confirmed this weekend for our family trip to New York over the Christmas break!  We cannot wait to take the boys to see the city, the Statue of Liberty, Niagra Falls, go skiing, ride a snowmobile, all with Pop and Grandma! (Ryan's parents)

Happy Monday!!

Weekend Recap!

It has been a quiet weekend with Preston recovering from what his doctor now thinks was a slight case of the H1N1 virus, and Trysten muddling through his own bout with the same.  With such crazy, busy weekday schedules, it has been a nice break from the norm over the past 48 hours.  We had planned to make our annual trip to the pumpkin patch on Saturday, however with Trysten not being able to get out of the house, I brought the pumpkins to the boys.  They had fun painting their small ones, and on Thursday evening, we'll carve the big daddy!  Here are some pics to enjoy!

Let the painting begin!

Preston! Love his toothless smile!

Carter...such a sweet mess!

Poor little Trysten. He tried so hard to hang in when he didn't feel well...=(

I joined in on the fun and made a pumpkin too!

Got crafty and made a banner for Thanksgiving to put on the mantle after Halloween.

We've been "Booed" twice over the past few days, so Ryan and I took the boys around the neighborhood Saturday night to find 2 houses that hadn't been "Boed" yet.  It wasn't an easy task as far into October as we are now!  Th kids had a blast ringing the doorbells and running off leaving a little Halloween surprise on the doorsteps of unexpected friends!

Hope you had a great weekend!  I'm off to Camp Pine Cove with all my students for the next 3 days!  Have a good one!!

Rain, Rain Going Away!

"Rain, Rain, Go Away!" has been on the chalkboard in the kitchen all week...The "experts" say it will be absent for the weekend, so needless to say, I am extremely excited and relieved!!  We're finally going to be able to make it to the pumpkin patch, attend some outdoor sporting events and leave the umbrella at home!  To make life even better....our evicted tenants have reluctantly moved out, so Ryan is hurridly getting the house ready for more responible renters!

Have a fabulously fun weekend!!!

Saying Goodbye...

Today I will be attending a funeral for the father of one of my best friends, Ryn.  We have been close since kindergarten...each time we see each other, picking up exactly where we left off.  Her father, who served as the Superintendent of the Irving School District for 40+ years, developed cancer a few short years ago and lost his battle Sunday evening.  During his illness, Ryn flew back and forth visiting between here and San Fransisco where she lives, and was able to make it just 2 hours before he passed to say goodbye....he was obviously waiting for her.  Mr. Singley will be dearly missed...

It's the Little Details!

I couldn't leave these guys on our mantle alone!  I had to add a little detail with the "boo" tags, and I think they look pretty cute!  I showed my hubby, and his response was, "Good job, Mama."  I don't think he even noticed a difference...oh well!

Have a great evening!!

Getaway!!

AMAZING....

That is what this weekend was.  Ryan and I had such a great time on our little anniversary weekend getaway, and I could not be happier that we decided to go watch the Arkansas Razorbacks kick some Auburn
boo-tay!  If you have never attended a college football game, then you have not experienced one of life's greatest offerings...Okay...I might be exaggerating a little, but it really IS somewhat of a religious experience!  It happened to be Family Weekend at The University of Arkansas, so the atmosphere was more exciting than usual...on top of coming off of a HUGE win against the Aggies at the Southwest Classic last weekend.  Here are some pics of what has been nicknamed, "Anniversary Celebration: Soladay-Style"!!

Out and about on Friday on Dickson Street ! It was a night mixed between students, alumni and parents in town for the game! Sooo much fun!

Time to tailgate! These people are SERIOUS about their Razorbacks! They come with HUGE spreads complete with grills, flat screen televisions, portable satellite dishes...INSANE!

My handsome hubby...=)

I kept telling Ryan, "This is some serious business!"  Check out the razorback head with an Auburn helmet in its mouth some people had attached to a tree where they were tailgating!

Game time!  How awesome is this!?

Perfect view from our seats!

"That's another Razorback...FIRST DOWN!!"

Razorback QB, Ryan Mallett!

Big Red!

Final score!  Pig Sooey!!!

We met some great people who were so sweet to feed us after the game!  How do you not love that!?

Some pics from the University of Arkansas campus!

Ryan's dorm!

Top floor...right in the middle!

Old Main

Fall on a college campus....Nothing better!  Are you reliving your college days through these pics!?

My MIL's uncle...on the bricks of Old Main

Her father...We were so disappointed to see it is cracked now...

One last picture before we left.  It was a little bright!!

   Such a great time!!!

Anyone?

So I made this a few weekends ago, and I have tried it out in so many different places in our abode to no avail.  I love the colors, the shape, the height, but I don't have the right spot for it!  It's sitting in the study, lonely and neglected.  With that said, if you want it, it's yours...any takers?

See...some things in life ARE free!

Anniversary Weekend Plans!

Ryan and I knew we were going to go somewhere for our anniversary weekend, but the question was where?  After lots of discussion, we discovered the Arkansas Razorbacks...Ryan went to U of AK in '93...were playing Auburn that weekend, and that was it!  Reservations were made and tickets bought!  I might not be the most typical girl because I love watching sports...especially football...at least teams I actually care about...maybe that's why God gave me so many boys...so this getaway is absolutely perfect for us. Ryan and I both arranged to have the day off Friday, thus after we drop the boys at their respective schools, hubby and I are hittin' the road!  I cannot wait to see the Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium, the dorm where Ryan lived as a young college kid, the Kappa Alpha frat house he belonged to, the bricks, on which some of his (alumni) family member's names are written, on the lawn of Old Main, the historic U of AK campus, and all the excitement that only a college campus in the fall can embody!

On a side note...the man, David Walston, Ryan bought the tickets from for the big game just so happens to be the former college roommate and teammate of Jerry Jones!  No kidding!  They played together at U of AK and are still great friends!  In fact, he spent last Saturday in the suite with Jones for the Southwest Classic (Arkansas vs. Texas A&M)!

Here's a pic of them on the 1962 Sugar Bowl Team!

Mr. Walston was so great, and put us on the list to have access to the Razorback "A" Club during the game!
I am so excited!!!
You know what makes this trip even better.......Check out the little diddies Ryan bought me........

They're from the Victoria's Secret PINK Collegiate Collection!
Can you say CUTE!!!??

Pig Soooie, Baby!!!

Two Amazing Years...

Two years ago today, I did my own hair and make-up so I would feel like me...

I wanted you to be blown away when I walked down the aisle, and I wanted to be the blissful bride I never had the chance to be...

I couldn't wait to meet family only spoken to over the phone or through letters...

The tables were set...

Everything was perfect...

I waited with overwhelming anticipation watching our friends and family arrive....

But all that mattered was you and the family we were about to officially "create"...

Our children walked down the aisle strewn with roses...

You nervoulsy joined them at the front...

My father gently took my arm with a proud smile on his face...proud of the man he was giving his grown daughter over to...I smiled the moment our eyes met...

We promised to love each other, to be faithful and honest...

To love each other's children as our own...

We laughed...and we cried...

We said "I do" and "kissed the bride"...

We lit a candle and became a family...

For the first time...Mr. and Mrs. Ryan E. Soladay...

I remember this exact moment...when we realized we were finally husband and wife...

Our first picture as a family...

Some favorites...

Our amazing parents...They have shown us what love and true committment look like...

Happy anniversary, Ryan...I am so proud to be your wife.  Our marriage has grown and strengthened so much over the past 2 years on so many incredible levels.  I would go through every upset I have ever experienced in life if it meant I would end up right where I am today...I love you...
