Greatness

Preston invited a few friends to Strikz...a bowling, arcade, laser tag type place...to celebrate his birthday, and I filmed the little video seen below

I must preface the viewing with this:
When the bowling began, the boys were sitting nicely at the table waiting for their turn to knock down the pins.  As time went on, as the music became louder, as the lights grew dimmer, and the sugar kicked in....the result was this:

Happy Birthday, Preston!

Preston's birthday was Sunday, and what a birthday my little guy had! I would have to say it was probably the best one yet, and you will soon see why!

Preston was asked to play in a tournament on a baseball team with 3 other kids from his regular season team, along with a mix of kids from other local teams in his age division, so the better part of our weekend was spent at the ballpark.  The kids had a blast playing together in 2 games on Saturday and 3 on Sunday.

Waiting on his turn in the line up...Why do my children always turn around when they see me with the camera!
At the batter's box!

Knock it out and run, P!!

Father and son...
Preston and his teammates watching the final game before the championship to see who their opponent would be after his team made it all the way!
Brothers...
being brothers!
Guess who won the championship!?
Guess who saved the game with the winning catch....
THE BIRTHDAY BOY!!!
One of our good friend's daughter from the team ran out on the field with all the boys and picked Preston up and swung him around!
He.was.ecstatic!!!
Priceless...
Trophy time!
The Clash!

Happy birthday to one of the sweetest, smartest, most creative little boys I know!

We love you, Preston!!

Soladay Family Caliventure Part 3!

We had a great family weekend...minus issues with "The Teenager"...that child is going to drive me insane...Next topic. I am forgoing my typical weekend recap to bring you part 3 of the SFC 2010. In order not to beat anyone down with thousands of images accompanied by witty text and to save myself from hours of sorting and posting, I have combined 2 days into 1 post.
Here.we.go!

Universal Studios=BLAST
Would love to know what Carter was thinking at this moment. Sweet boy.
You think they enjoyed the haunted house? Love their faces!
Such a ham!
And again.

The stunt show
I looked over at Carter during the stunt show, and saw this sweet face...
and felt his little hand on my leg...why do they have to grow up?
Before we went on the Backlot Studio Tour, the boys had an impromptu dance session. I don't know about you, but I think Trysten might have a future career. The kid has some pretty impressive moves. Love it!
Time for the tour!
For all of the Desperate Houswives fans...which I'm not...but it was really cool to see the actual set in person.
From War of the Worlds:
Pretty awesome and so realistic!
The Bates Motel and the Psycho house!
This set is the oldest one remaining on the Hollywood lot.
The set from How the Grinch Stole Christmas
After a very long day at the park, we head just outside the gates to an area full of entertainment, shopping and restaurants called City Walk for some family fun and dinner!
There were lots of street entertainers like the one below. When we saw this guy, Trysten wanted to know why he was doing this, so I said, "He's a performance artist, also called a starving artist because he's willing to work for so little money just to display his creativity. He performs like an artist paints a picture on a canvas." Trysten responded with, "If he's so starving, why doesn't he just eat?" Precious boy.
One of the coolest parts of this dinner was watching Trysten try foods he had never eaten before! Check out what he tried...and liked:
SUSHI!!
Here's the proof!
If you know anything about T, then you know how cool this was!
Yum! Let's eat!
ALL the boys were crazy after dinner!!
What a fantastic day!
The next morning, we went to Laguna Beach.
Stunning.
The boys were in heaven!
There were so many people out watching the waves, having intimate conversations with friends, eating lunch and walking their dogs! Awesome.
Yes, we saw a little bit of everything.
Carter had a little trouble keeping his pants up!
Ryan did this and had all of us put our footprints around it.
My boys' last name is "Watts", so they call us the Solawatts!
From my sweet hubby...=)
That night we had dinner with Ryan's grandmother. Isn't she beautiful!
Hubby and I!
Our family =)

Another fantastic adventure together!!

Random Information

I am taking a short break from vacation posts to bring you some random bits of information of goings on in our little world here in Prosper. Exciting...I know.

1. We finally bought some nice patio furniture over the Father's Day weekend, and we are loving it! Ryan and I went back and forth over buying a seating group or an actual "dining" table and chairs first, and Home Depot made it easy by only having the seating group in stock that we wanted. Thank you, Home Depot. Hubby and I have been out there hanging out and listening to music every.single.night. We are fortunate to get a really nice breeze, so no heat strokes here. You likey?

2. With the new outdoor furniture, I have gained a green thumb. We had already scheduled our yard guy to come out and plant some flowers, but I said to myself, "Hey, I can do this. I don't care that it is 105 degrees outside. I can do this," and I did!

Knockout roses. Love them.
LOTS of pink begonias!
Okay...so I didn't plant this tree, but isn't it beautiful! I love all of the mature landscaping at our new house.

3. We had a wonderful Father's Day. Ryan and I spent the day with Trysten working in the yard, swimming, and had dinner with my family later that evening.

These are 2 handsome boys!

4. My little guys have been hanging right by my side lately while I have been exercising my green thumb:
Think we might need a pool? Sweet boys.
Carter even played out in the merciless heat while I planted in the front. When he saw me bust out the camera...he took off. Love my boys.
You think I might need to trim my potato vines?

That's all I got!
Ryan and I were kid free last night and tonight, so lots of alone time for us! Yippee!
We have a busy weekend ahead with family time, a baseball tournament and Preston's birthday...my little guy is turning 9!
Happy Thursday, my friends!!
