Have to Brag...

I have to brag on my little boy....moms can do that...right...This past Friday, Preston received the Principal's Award for March and was recognized at the morning assembly. He is such a precious little boy, and I am proud of him for so many reasons. Ryan and Trysten even surprised him by showing up to congratulate him!

This is what the principal read before she presented him with the certificate...You should have seen his face as he began to realize he was the recipient while she read the part that spells his name...priceless.

Preston...

You are so intelligent, talented, creative, and responsible at such a young age.

I love you!

A Space...

I have always wanted to have my own creative space...A space where I could have my sewing machine, my craft supplies, a computer and printer all in one room. Right now, I am in the study on a teeny tiny table Ryan brought home from his office, my sewing machine is set up on the table in the kitchen, and my supplies are in various locations around the house so as not to completely take over the study. It seems this is all about to change...Carter is now moving into Preston and Trysten's room, thus freeing up an entire room in our house...my own room!

I must interject before you say, "Three kids in 1 room!?". One of the reasons we chose our home was because of the extra-large secondary bedroom upstairs which we thought would be perfect for Preston and Trysten sharing a room. When the builder built our house, he decided to extend the room and extra 5 feet, so it is literally bigger than our bedroom! As of right now, the boys have a bunk bed, dresser, 2 small desks, and a couch with plenty of extra room left over. Carter makes his way into their room to sleep much of the time as it is, so Ryan had the idea of moving him in the other room and turning his old room into my creative space. When we asked Preston, Trysten and Carter how they felt about it, they were thrilled with the idea of having a "sleepover" every night...greatness...

This is Preston and Trysten's room as of now...The plan is to replace this bunk bed with the double/twin bunk bed Ed and Carol are giving us, move the dresser on the opposite wall, take these beds apart, move the bottom bunk where the dresser is now for Carter, leave the sofa where it is, and there will still be tons of extra room.

This is the dresser we'll move...Look how much space these boys have!

The Jack-and-Jill bathroom in between the boys' rooms...
Carter's room...my future space...

By the way...if you see anything in this pic you want...minus the rug and bookshelf...make me an offer, and it's yours!!!

To make it even better, my mother is going to let me borrow her serger, embroidery machine, work table...so excited...Ahhh...It's the little things in life...

Wasted Weekend?

Now...it wasn't really wasted...I just wasn't able to mark anything other than the garage sale off my list of tasks needing completion. Ryan and I spent Friday evening picking up items such a patio furniture from his parents home in Prosper to sell in our garage sale. We were fortunate to acquire most of the big ticket items from them to sell since they're in the process of relocating to New York and just wanted to get rid of a lot of "stuff". When our heads hit the pillow Friday evening, we had no idea what we would wake up to on Saturday....SNOW...Yes, in Texas, in March, after we had highs around 80 less than 3 days prior...But, you know that saying, "Build it, and they will come."? We built it, and come they did...$500.00 later, our garage is cleared out, and our pockets are deeper. Garage Sale...Check.

Curtains made......No
Orders finished......No
New items made for McKinney Trade Days in 3 weeks......No

Looks like I have a lot yet to accomplish...

HOPE YOUR WEEKEND WAS GREAT!

Hooked on Fabric...

I'm participating in Hooked on Fridays going on over at Hooked on Houses...Go check out all the links for some visual candy and some inspirational ideas! Here's what I'm hooked on right now...I discovered the best fabric over at Fabric Shoppe. The collections are amazing and so vivid. I cannot wait to receive the yards I ordered yesterday, so that I can put them to good use!! Here are just a few samples of the little jewels this Etsy store has to offer...

I am really excited to make some boy's T-shirts using these fabrics:

l.o.v.e...

Yummy!

Friday Randomness...

I could not be happier that today is Friday. The crew is headed to their "other half" for the weekend, I am working a 1/2 day today, and will be spending the evening preparing for the garage sale we're having bright and early tomorrow morning. Have you ever done this before? It's a beating...but the money at the end and getting rid of extra "stuff" around the house make it worth it. I also have T-shirts to embellish, curtains and hair clips to make, orders to complete and sushi to eat. Anyone have big, exciting plans this weekend?

A recent, random picture of Carter...May the Force Be With You...

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!

Speaking of Chandeliers...

Love me some chandeliers real or otherwise...and I would LOVE to win this one over at Restyled Home! Go over and check it out...This blogger and her husband are crazy talented. Her hubby is the one that built that to die for little girl's playhouse!

Awww the Good Old Days...

Setting the scene...dinner time, attempting to cook a homemade meal for the family, dog needs to be fed, 2 older brothers want Mom's attention, and Mom is forced to stand over the stove with the baby on her hip...Awww the good old days. Are you still in this stage? I'm am finally not, and I don't think I truly realized it until last night when I went over to a new customer's house to measure for some curtains I am making for her family room. Bless her heart...I remember trying to cook dinner with a baby on my hip in order to keep him from crying and following me around the kitchen attached to my leg. Now it seems I am having to call them 3 and 4 times to come downstairs or inside for dinner...or sometimes, in the case of "the teenager", I am having to get him to get out of the bath....you can read more on that topic here. There are times, especially on the weekends, where the older ones play outside for hours, only to come in for lunch and water. Every once in awhile, I miss those good old days...

If Money Were No Object...

If money were no object, if I won the lottery, if I were not employed in one of the most underpaid professions...this is what I would add to my family room to make it feel more like spring...if money were no option...which it is...

Love these...

I would put this leaning against the wall on the mantle...
or this...
Or maybe this...

I love the dragonflies

Here's the greenery, ladies! Don't you love Paperwhites!
I would replace our heavy wool rug with a seagrass...
What about replacing the fan with a chandelier...I can see my husband shaking his head now...

I love the base of this lamp...

But...wouldn't 2 of these look great!?

I would love to incorporate this tassel The Nesting Place made...

I would replace my pillows with these... For the side tables...I have to have my family pictures...
Some more greenery...
For the tray on the ottoman
What do you think....

I Want This Room To...

This is my family room...and I love it. I love rich fabrics, lots of patterns, lots of different textures, not matchy-matchy, golds, ambers, blacks, shades of chocolate, oranges and greens. It's really cozy in the winter time due to the leather sofa and of all of the darker colors...which I love...but now that spring is here, I am feeling the need to lighten up a bit...I want this room to feel cool and breezy too. So....I am asking for advice. What should I do to put a spring in this room's step?

THIS GIRL NEEDS SOME HELP!!

Another One of Those.....

It's another one of those days....I stepped out of the shower with conditioner still in my hair....again. I had a million ideas running through my mind, and I took a shower on auto pilot. Have you ever driven somewhere and once you arrived at your destination, you realize you don't remember the journey because you were deep in thought? This describes my state of mind this morning. I have all these ideas for things I want to do, but I need 2 small items to make my aspirations materialize.....
  1. More time
  2. More money

Nothing major....right?

A Few More Little Diddies...

As you might remember, my friend and I were going to work a craft show this past weekend, but we decided to do the Trade days in McKinney in April instead. This meant spending a lot of time gettin' crafty over spring break. I set up a table in our study, and made a huge mess...but it was fun. Here are a few more things I finished over the break:

Just a little somethin', somethin'...I love boxes and books stacked up...

Here's another view of one of the frames pictured above...Thanks to Coco, this is my newest favorite color combination...=)

A little tag/tassel to hang from a knob, lamp, picture frame, etc.

Another one... I could see this in a tween or teen's room...
