Really?

So Ryan and I are having a deep conversation in the car with Austin...7th grade...on Monday night about school, the importance of his grades, study habits and educational future.  We discussed the fact that Preston...3rd grade...comes home from school every day, sets the timer for his 20 minutes of required reading and again for his math flashcards online, and Carter...kindergarten....brings me his homework every Monday ready to sit down and complete, proceeded AND followed by hours...not kidding about this...writing letters, numbers, words, sounding them out and everything all on his own....only to hear this come out of Austin's mouth every single day...."I don't have ANY homework. I'm good!"

Our conversation focused on college....which believe it or not is only 5.5 years away for him...and the grades it takes to get into the type of college he would like to attend, the need to develop strong study habits now, the need to read more to increase his vocabulary...and this is what came out of Carter's mouth...who had been silent in the back seat during our entire conversation with Austin...

"Mom, when are you going to buy me a whoopie cushion!!?"

REALLY????

The secret of life for boys of all ages is found here apparently...Please help me...for I am trapped in a land full of testosterone and lunacy....

OK, I laughed out loud at this one. I can totally see a boy completely zoning out not listening to a damn word you're saying and then throwing out a request such as this.

My Carter would do it. Yep. They are a difficult breed!

God gave me girls for a reason. I'm sure of it. But, my girls think toots and burping are the funniest things. I'm with them actually!
Funny boy, Carter! He's such a cutie!
