I'm telling you...If more couples could enjoy alone time every other weekend, more marriages could be saved...I seriously believe that. The time that Ryan and I have to focus on each other, our marriage, and what makes it work so well, is golden! It is so easy to get wrapped up in daily life...you know...work, kids etc., and simply grow apart, lose touch...become roommates. Making time for each other is vital, especially for kids. They need to see what a healthy, respectful marriage looks like...after all, we're the example they will inevitably fall into exhibiting in their own lives. Okay....off my soap box. =)
Back to the weekend...We went to Sambuca's to listen to Waking Norman on Saturday, and little did I know that Ryan had put together a surprise party for me with some of our close friends. Even though my birthday was last week, we had the kids and don't get babysitters when they're with us, so needless to say, he completely surprised me. I was impressed with his "decoration choices" for the table. The man is good, and I couldn't believe Preston didn't let me in on the secret last week as he had gone with Ryan to buy the decor. It was a blast, and I felt so lucky to be married to such a special guy. =)
There's more to the weekend...such as the new "toy" I bought...but I am too tired and am going to bed. Tomorrow is my final teaching day before the dreaded TAKS test on Tuesday, so I need my beauty sleep...Until tomorrow...
