A Picture Says a Thousand Words...

Remember the days when we were kids when parents
 held their children responsible
for their grades, actions and choices instead of
blaming
anyone
and
everyone.
Ah...the good old days...

Yes, I definitely remember those days.

And remember when one team actually WON the game and one team LOST the game?? But now everyone's a winner. Drives me crazy.
That's not how the real world works. Someone will get a promotion and someone won't. You deal with it and move on and try to be better next time. That's life.

Teachers get treated so unfairly. Parents are on the quest to have the perfect child and in that they blame everyone else if their child fails. I am one of those that alerts his teachers of issues at home (talking back, etc.) and works WITH the teacher to correct it. I ask for advise and want to know if he is misbehaving or not listening.

I think it is because I have teacher friends and hear how terrible some parents are.

Sorry this is long...but I have a story. There is a little boy in Hagen's class that is so sweet. But his mother is THAT mom that is always looking for something wrong. and get this...she works in the school system! She called me the other night and was pissed because he was put in "chill out"...it is what they call time out for the child to get ahold of himself and then rejoin the group. She was so angry...I told her she needs to get a grip and let them do their thing and trust them...

I was told the other day by a parent that under no circumstances was I to keep her child in at study hall (during recess) to finish homework that wasn't completed the night before. I wanted to punch her in the face, but instead told her nicely that he would just have double homework that night. So the next day he comes in with a note from his mother that he didn't finish any of the homework because he had baseball practice and it was his cousin's birthday. Again she didn't want him to stay in from recess and they would do it all tonight. I'm not holding my breath, but what kind of example does that set for him? The funny thing is.....we don't even have to go out to recess at all. There is nothing in the educational code in the State of Texas that requires recess of any grade. It is just something that is built into the day.....five more days, five more days....I can do it!

Oh, Moni.....You just made my blood boil, girl! I.hate.when.a student.tells.me.he/she.couldn't.do.homework.because.they're.too.busy.

WTH! Parents....look at the example you're setting for your kids: School isn't important since you're "just" in elementary school, homework isn't important, following the expectations isn't important. UGGGGG! Make it a priority so your children will see it as such!

You're right, Carrie....5 more days....we CAN do it!
